The then Vice Chancellor and Head of the Chancery of Switzerland in India, Willy Blazer, called Khajjiar the ‘mini-Switzerland’. The comparison came to his mind due to the striking topographical resemblance of the place with Switzerland. It is situated in the Bageshwar district, this tiny village is known for its scenic splendor and the best panoramic views of Nanda Devi, Panchchuli, and other Himalayan peaks. For its impressive natural beauty, the place was compared to Switzerland by Mahatma Gandhi himself.
