About Manimahesh Yatra 2026

Manimahesh Yatra is one of the most revered pilgrimages in the Indian Himalayas, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The serene Manimahesh Lake lies in the Pir Panjal range of Himachal Pradesh and is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva himself.

Every year, thousands of pilgrims undertake this yatra, especially during the auspicious period starting from Janmashtami and concluding on Radha Ashtami. Along with its deep spiritual importance, the route offers dense forests, river crossings, alpine meadows, and sweeping views of the Chamba Kailash massif, making it a memorable trek for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers.

Our Manimahesh Yatra 2026 departures are carefully planned around the best weather window and yatra dates, balancing safety, acclimatization, and comfort.

Best Time for Manimahesh Kailash Trek

The recommended season for Manimahesh Yatra & trek is mid‑June to mid‑October.

  • Mid‑June to July: Snow may still be present on higher sections. Scenic but colder; suitable for experienced trekkers and well‑equipped pilgrims.
  • August (Yatra period): Peak pilgrimage time with more crowds, stronger spiritual atmosphere, and active local arrangements (langars, services, etc.). Short spells of rain are common.
  • September: Generally the most balanced month for trekking – clearer skies, stable weather, and reduced crowds after the main yatra days. Day temperatures are usually cool and comfortable, while nights can drop to below freezing at higher camps.
  • Early October: Clear views and crisp days, with cold nights. Some snowfall is possible at higher sections as the season closes.

We help you choose the departure that matches your comfort, fitness level, and preference for crowd levels.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Arrive in Chamba from Pathankot

Arrive in Chamba by road (or via the nearest airport at Dharamshala followed by a road transfer). Check in to your pre‑booked hotel/guest house.

Stroll through the old town, visit local temples and markets, and enjoy views of the Ravi valley. Use this day to rest and acclimatize gently.

Overnight stay in Chamba.

Day 2: Chamba to Bharmour – Temple Visit & Acclimatization

After breakfast, drive to Bharmour (approx. 65 km). The drive offers spectacular views as you gain altitude and enter the Budhil valley.

On arrival, check in and freshen up. Later, visit the famous Chaurasi Temple Complex, home to 84 ancient temples and a key spiritual center for the Manimahesh Yatra. Spend time in the temple courtyard, attend evening prayers (subject to local timings), and prepare for the trek ahead.

Overnight stay in Bharmour.

Day 3: Bharmour to Hadsar – Start of the Trek

Post breakfast, drive to Hadsar, the official starting point of the Manimahesh trek (approx. 20 km).

From Hadsar, begin your trek along the traditional yatra route. The trail follows the river, passes through small settlements, forests, and gradual ascents. Depending on the departure and group comfort, this day typically involves trekking towards the intermediate camps on the route (such as Dhancho / nearby segments) with breaks for rest and refreshments.

Reach the designated campsite/guest accommodation for the night, enjoy a hot meal, and rest.

Overnight stay on the trek route.

Day 4: Trek to Manimahesh Lake & Return to Lower Camp

Start early for the most significant day of the yatra. Trek from your camp towards Manimahesh Lake. The route includes steep sections and stone‑paved walking paths used by countless pilgrims over the years. As you gain altitude, the air becomes thinner and views more dramatic.

Arrive at the sacred Manimahesh Lake, situated at the base of the snow‑clad Manimahesh Kailash peak. Perform darshan and rituals, take in the serenity of the lake, and, if conditions permit, witness the reflection of the peak on the water – often described as resembling a saffron tilak.

After spending time at the lake, trek back down carefully to your lower camp on the route or towards Hadsar, depending on the day’s logistics and group pace.

Overnight stay at camp / guest accommodation.

Day 5: Hadsar to Bharmour & Departure

After breakfast, complete the final stretch down to Hadsar (if not already there). From Hadsar, drive back to Bharmour.

Depending on your schedule and available time, you may:

  • Revisit missed temples or viewpoints in Bharmour
  • Explore the local market and pick up souvenirs

Later, proceed for your onward journey towards Chamba or your next destination.

(If you wish, this itinerary can be customized with an extra night in Chamba or Dharamshala at an additional cost.)
