How to plan your Bhrigu Lake Trek
Day 1: From Manali Drive to Gulaba, then walk to Gulaba Meadows Camp
The journey begins in Manali and heads to the small mountain town of Gulaba on Rohtang Pass Road. Three mountain towns: Kolang, Palchan, and Kothi lead the way and as we walk it becomes more and more beautiful with the pine forest. Snow-capped highlands picturesquely surround this little place. The sweet meadow washed by the Beas River will form a dreamlike image in Gulaba, as long as the Rohtang transit people are not there.
After lunch in the village, we took a short hike and reached our first campsite in the meadow near the forest line about 1.5 hours later. Walking is a complete pleasure, without any difficulty, navigating under the deep dark shadow of the conifers, and finally reaching an open clearing.
Day 2: Gulaba to Rola Kholi
Today we start at 12,500 feet above sea level. Cross 6 kilometers in 34 hours. This will be a steep hike so you will need 2 liters of water and a small number of snacks to relax between test circles.
For the first few miles, we still drove under the cover of the forest, bathing in the shade of the crisp conifers. You can easily spot oak, cedar, and birch trees. A flash of blue through these leaves is a beautiful sight.
walked for 20 minutes to enter the hike, the forest had now receded, and before only the wavy green grass stretched. This is the shepherds’ area, all summer shepherds are brought in from the local village. You can find some mud houses and camping poles here. Leave the meadow behind and start driving south. You will see that Hanuman Tiba’s peak clearly rises at this point, below the Seven Sisters. Somewhere far below is the green space of the Beas Kund Valley.
is followed by another light jungle cover, after which the trail drops back into the rugged grass. Before entering the Rola Kholi meadow, the excitement culminates when the path becomes narrower and steeper. About 15 to 20 minutes from the camp, we pass two Nara rivers or streams, which are also our source of water. Our camp is located near Chor Nallah in the Rola Kholi camp. Chapter
Tonight Is A Miraculous Night Under The Starry Sky!
Day 3: Rola Kholi to Lake Bhrigu and back to Rola Kholi
Today’s landscape is completely different from what we experienced a few days ago! Leaving early in the morning, we covered a distance of 10 kilometers up a steep and rocky road in approximately 78 hours. The green meadow was like a dream for the first two days, but the scenery here is just as fascinating, even more, refreshing in the cool mountain weather. From
June, you can expect this field after Rola Khuli to be covered in snow. Starting in mid-July, as the snow melts, the gradation of brown, green, and white becomes obvious. In the last section of the trail, it is strongly recommended to walk slowly and not rush for success, because the path is full of gravel and slippery rocks.
Alpine lakes can be seen between the two ridges we reached at the end of our last bouldering circle. Whether it is severe winter or early summer, the lake will not be completely frozen. This is an event that occurred due to the power of the saint Bhrigu in ancient mythology, the lake was named after this.
From the high belt around the lake, you can quickly glimpse the Solang Valley in the distance. On a clear day, the sky is illuminated by the magnificent peaks of the Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar mountains.
Day 4: Rola Kholi to Gulaba, drive to Manali
Today we return along the same path, passing through the luscious green meadows, the long journey to Gulaba takes about 2 to 3 hours, and then ride from there Arriving in Manali, we will arrive in Manali between 2 pm and 3 pm.
Note: There is an alternative route back to Manali from the Bhrigu Lake station via Vashisht and Pandu Ropa, but we found this route to be more relaxed and sustainable, suitable for relaxing green walks.
